Our next Helsinki Meetup is getting closer and this time it’s with GDWC and Skillz! The Game Development World Championship, or GDWC for short, is an annual global competition for game developers of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. Skillz is the leading mobile games platform that connects players and developers through fun, fair and meaningful competition. 

We will have interesting seminars from both, so don’t miss it! See below for more info on the speakers. 👇

Olli Mäntylä, Director at GDWC

Olli has worked in the games industry since 2010 in various roles from community management to game design and from PC games to Mobile startups. Joined GDWC in 2020 as Director and has taken the championship to record breaking growth. 

GDWC’s goal is to celebrate awesome games and the developers behind them. The GDWC 2023 WINTER SEASON is actually open right now with multiple categories to compete in! You're welcome to submit your game whether you're a professional developer, a hobbyist, a student, or just interested in game development in general. Check out their website for more details!

Brendan Vanous, Head of Developer Success at Skillz

Brendan fled the world of embedded systems to join the venerable Sierra On-Line as a game developer in the mid-90s, when the company's main office moved up to Seattle. After many years developing games directly, he moved through progressively broader roles helping game developers be successful, both in terms of online technologies and business, including helping to bring the PlayFab business to developers worldwide. Today, he's the Head of Developer Success for Skillz, where he's helping developers build in the rapidly growing skill-based competition game market.

Maxine, Kamppi shopping center, 6th floor (Elevators can be found on the E-floor, between Jungle Juice Bar and Rax).

Maxine is wheelchair accessible! There's a few steps at the entrance, for that please ask security at the cloakroom for a ramp.
