How to work as a concept artist - in the global market - from your hometown(or anywhere)

Maroto (you might know him as Bambinomonkey) has worked in the animation industry for over 16 years for some of the largest animation and VFX companies out there - Nexus, the Mill, Sony, Psyop and more. 

He has also been working with Pori-based animation and game studio Nopia since Teemu Erämaa founded the company in 2010. 

Maroto has an extensive, impressive resume of work as a concept artist, illustrator, and art director.

In the workshop Maroto will showcase his working methods and talk about his career development. If you want to stay in your hometown (or work remotely from anywhere) and be succesful - these are the advice you want to hear!

On Thursday 26th we are going to have Luca Deriu, R&D engineer of PlaySys Italy, for a talk about his gaming projects.

Last year Luca visited us with a tech talk about rendering and shading techniques while this year he will introduce us to some recent ideas and projects of the agency. (Check in advance from website: https://www.play-sys.com/

We will also have a showcase of Motion Capture by Lasse Uusitalo.

Doors are open at 17 and the actual programme starts around 17.30 . Jimmy's is providing us special discounts of the drinks: 5 €/portion (including wines and tap beverages).

Welcome to awesome August gathering by IGDA Satakunta and Turku Hubs!

We have decided to join forces and make gathering in between Pori and Turku - welcome to Rauma :D

Our gathering will take place on 27th of August from 18:00 at Sky Launge Torni (Vesitornintie 2, 26100 Rauma) where we shall have teams from Satakunta and Turku presenting their work and also show their games at demo corner!

Come and celebrate the success of Alvin From Earth's Kickstarter campaign, as well as the first episode of the show, with Nopia Oy and IGDA Satakunta on Thursday, 11 October at 18:00 in Terrace Bar.

So we had two Game Jam sites and over 40 jammers in Satakunta on 20th to 22nd January making games for Global Game Jam / Finnish Game Jam. Nine games were made.

How awesome is that?!?

Now we want bring together all the jammers from FGJ Pori and FGJ Satakunta sites and all those poor people who couldn't attend the jamming: to show the games, to play the games and have a little retrospective/postmortem on how did the project go.

The gathering is organized in close cooperation with Pana ry.
